The date of establishment of the department : August, 2004
 
The department is build up in an area of 5075 Sq. Mt. Well qualified and experienced teachers have been appointed to train the students for the best of the pharmacy profession, with the help of well equipped sophisticated pharmaceutical laboratories. Research activities and publications in various national and international reputed journals are in the process within the department in various fields like ethno pharmacology / Natural product / Noval drug delivery system/ plant physiology various dosage form development. The department have full academic, administrative and financial autonomy. Board of Studies, Academic Council and Executive Council helps in the formulation and implementation of new academic programmes.Every three years the curricula of the programmes are reviewed and revised.12 hrs/week average time spent by a teacher with students (other than research scholars). Teachers update their classroom instruction by attending seminars/conferences and orientation programme at regular interval. They also update themselves by consulting journals through internet and reading the latest books and periodicals
 
The department have a following plan of action :
To start the Post-graduation programme (M. Pharm) and Ph.d.
To establish adverse drug reaction and drug information centre
To establish a drug/ chemical analysis lab.
To establish a tissue culture lab.
To protect rare species of medicinal plants, made available for research.
 
Research Activities
Novel Drug Delivery System ( Transdermal and Chemically Engineered colloidal Carriers for Oral Drug Delivery)
Dosage from Development (eg Tablets, Dry Syrups, Solid Dispersions and analytical method development for estimation of above dosage form)
Plant physiology, essential oil and alkaloid containing medicinal plants.
Ethnopharmacology.
Drug analysis by instrumental method
   
Facilities
Medicinal plants garden is existing in area of 2 acre.
Animal houses as per the norms of CPCSEA is going to construct in coming future.
A computer lab with a capacity of 30 student is also proposed.
